Linden Smibert Claims Victory in Fred Gilder Winter Cup

Congratulations to Linden Smibert, the proud winner of this year’s Fred Gilder Winter Cup. It was a challenging start for Linden, battling the cold and rain, with an 8 on the 1st hole and a 9 on the 3rd. However, undeterred by the rough beginning, Linden found her rhythm and delivered an outstanding performance.
Demonstrating resilience, Linden played the last 11 holes an impressive 9 under her handicap. Her stellar run featured net birdies on the 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 17th holes, capped off with a decisive net eagle on the 18th, carding a 4 to seal the win. Linden finished with a commendable net score of 70, showcasing a fantastic comeback and superb finish.
Securing the runner-up position was Mary McCarthy, who displayed consistent form throughout her round. Mary posted a solid front nine of 45 and a back nine of 44, culminating in a gross score of 89 and a net 71.
The best gross score of the day was claimed by Sandie Wright, who played brilliantly with a front nine of 42 and an impressive 40 on the back nine. Sandie clinched the best gross honours with a total of 82, winning on countback.
