Mark Mentha Clinches 4th Seniors Championship
Posted on: 14 May
In the Senior championship final, Andrew Newbold faced off against Mark Mentha in a match evenly poised with both players on a 4 handicap. Andrew took an early lead with a 20ft putt on the second hole, but Mark quickly won the next three holes, maintaining a two-up lead through the turn. Mentha then birdied the eleventh hole to go three up, but Newbold cancelled that with a birdie on the twelfth hole. Despite the competitive scoring and good-natured match between the Portsea and Sorrento pennant players, the next four holes were halved. Mentha ultimately closed out the match with a 5ft downhill putt on the seventeenth hole, winning his fourth senior championship.
